目前在音效处理技术方面,可简单分为三大势力,包括SRS、Dolby以及DTS,其中Dolby与DTS除了提供音讯强化,也提供制码技术,DTS的优势在于蓝光音频编码有着八成的市场。而DTS看到近年消费者对于声音的讲求,已经不局限在传统家庭剧院,甚至在计算机、笔电甚至手机上,有越来越多的使用族群开始强调声音质量的重要性。

然而现在笔电、手机,或是部份平板喇叭设计的电视与小型音箱,受限于先天的物理限制,声音的表现往往不尽理想,而DTS就透过各种方式,包括透过软件运算逻辑以及DSP等方式,使聆听者听到的声音能够有一定的水平之上。而DTS的声音表现方式也不是一味走向夸张,毕竟修饰过度的声音除了会破坏原有的聆听体验,也会造成无法久听。

In addition, DTS takes up about 80% of the BlueRay market. Their ambition grows beyond home theatres to PC, laptops and even cell phones. However, due to their physical constraints, portable devices cannot produce adequate sounds. DTS' solution is to use software based sound enhancing technology and DSP to improve sound reproduction in these devices. Such new technology is rapidly being adopted by companies such as Onkyo, Kenwood and Asus. Moreover, the DTS Ultra Mobile technology has made its way in T-Mobile's G2X. DTS Envelo and DTS Boost will improve sound quality in music and games, respectively.

而DTS的技术也已经受到业界大厂的肯定,包括如日本Onkyo、Kenwood等传统音响大厂,也在推出的计算机与音乐播放器加入DTS支持。而像是台湾华硕也一直以来是DTS的重要合作伙伴,如上图这款24寸华硕新款AIO就具备DTS技术支持。

另外像在手机方面,最新一代的DTS Ultra Mobile技术也已经被T-Mobile G2x采用,提供手机一定质量的音效强化效果。DTS表示,DTS Ultra Mobile包括DTS Envelo以及DTS Boost两项技术,分别针对音乐聆听以及游戏带来对应的声音诠释方式。
