Halo Legends Blu-ray dated Feb. 9, 2010; perfect fanboy storm approaches {Joystiq}

Nov 5th 2009 8:22PM So Sony appears single handedly owns the Blu-Ray..? I thought they make the same impression out of DVD on PS2. But XBOX had DVD and no one thought that's a failure on MS's side.

Ratchet & Clank's primary audience isn't kids, but 20-somethings {Joystiq}

Nov 5th 2009 6:28AM Maybe it's because I missed the wave of sort-like-an-animal mascots in the 90's(a PC only gamer when younger), now all these characters look similiar to me :( yeah I know it's not true but still

WoW 'rejected' in China, government at odds with itself over decision {Joystiq}

Nov 3rd 2009 2:30AM Most opinion I saw about milk incident is directed at greed or neglect and corruption of regulation. The word "communism" and "capitalism" fall out of everyday chinese life - the government itself silently discouraged their use, because they feel embrassed about that too.

For changing of the government, you have to consider that it was the same regime publicly used tanks to murder protesters 20yrs ago, it cannot be dealt with in the same logic of western governments. Without major survival problem I doubt it's possible to incite a civil uprising. Especially that - when was the last time you saw the military sided with "the people" in a confrontation with the govt, whichever country?

Nov 3rd 2009 2:00AM But China is the least religious among large powers?

WoW 'rejected' in China, government at odds with itself over decision {Joystiq}

Nov 3rd 2009 1:57AM Virtually no one here in China can say "We are communists" with a straight face now. We are a capitalist country with a authoritarian government.

For the topic, in-fightings between ministries are not too rare a sight, while a single party government, within it there are various clinques and factions, it's human nature.

Kojima Productions working on English language Peace Walker demo {Joystiq}

Nov 2nd 2009 9:37PM I'm concerned about single player experience. Seem for now it's all talking about co-op. Remember Snake, this is a solo sneaking mission!

And the plot. PW is a mid-quel, historically speaking this sort of thing were hard to pull off. But Japanese minds apparently aren't that big on continuity so maybe they won't be constrained by "canon". I'm all for sacrificing a little time line integrity for a better self-contained story

Critter Crunch dev working on new zombie game {Joystiq}

Oct 27th 2009 2:31PM Zombies are pale justification for brain dead AI.

In 90's they promised believable AI behavior, now teammates' role is put to co-op and enemies are getting stupider. Alan Turing is turning in his grave.

And lot of players' taste never grow out of Space Invader.

Borderlands PC DRM loyally guards street date; Pitchford unable to order stand-down {Joystiq}

Oct 23rd 2009 1:00PM Isn't steam doing this too? You download first, unlock when it hit the digital "street", what's particularly bad about this one?

China bans foreign investment in online games industry {Joystiq}

Oct 14th 2009 4:52AM Actually if your game is influential enough(say, WoW). you can still get a reasonable proportion in profit, the Chinese side of joint ops can't afford to lose such a big contract, too.

If you are not big enough, then don't brother, not because of this stupid law, it's that Chinese taste in MMOs is heavily Korean-styled (and not the good korean kind), yeah, it's true. WoW got this far simply by very favorable reputations created by Warcraft (and Starcraft) beforehand.

As for Chinese locking out ALL foreign ownership, first, it's not true; and, YOU can try it too if you had a communist government, would you rather like that?
