Nov 2nd 2009 3:29AM If you don't light the idea of backlit eink you can turn it off---but at least provide the option! How many of you have actually seen a backlit eink display before making your judgements? Check out the samsung alias 2 review videos on youtube. It got backlit eink keyboard and that looks awesome.

Maybe it's not important to regular readers like you, but at least it's an surplus for many geeks like me, who during the working day hours DON'T have much time for casual reading---yes that's the only thing ereaders are good at as of now. I will need to keep the entire room light up for some pre-bedtime reading---how lame is that? Hate booklights coz they bring intolerable flare and drains the battery super fast.

Oct 20th 2009 8:16PM The case is, with backlit eink, you will be able to read in daylight AND darkness. BTW, what's the point of this daylight-only reading device if most geeks don't have much time to read paper books in the day?

Oct 20th 2009 5:11PM I believe some of you have been brainwashed by the kindle's eink-needs-no-backlight propaganda. I have a samsung alias2 with backlit eink keyboard and it looks awesome! What's so different between backlight and front light? Haven't you used projectors before?
