Computex 2008：惊！Gigabyte M912 跑 Vista！？

我们运气还不错，技嘉在我们还没离开南港时就向 Intel 拗到可以开机我们看，结果打开后是什么？Vista！据技嘉的人说明，会决定采用 Vista 是因为 M912 采用了触摸式的面版，而和 Win XP Tablet PC 版相较，Vista 比较符合经济效益。这也是我们看到的第一台跑 Vista 的 Atom 轻省笔电，严格来说跑起来比想象中顺一些，但不知道对电池有什么样的影响（这要拿回来测才能确定）

另外，M912 的转轴只能顺时针转，不能逆时针转。出现在先前照片上的那台是「原型机」，之后再出的机器都只能转单向了。这篇只是赶一些比较急的新信息出来，后面还会有一篇比较完整的。敬请期待～

After some 'negotiation' by the GIGBYTE representative, INTEL agreed to boot the machine. According to GIGABYTE representatives, the choice is largely due to the fact that M912 uses a touchscreen panel, and in comparison, Vista is a more cost-effective choice than Win XP Tablet PC edition. This is the first Atom-based ultra-portable we see that runs Vista, and it appear to be running smoother than expected, though impact on battery life is yet to be determined.

Some now-known-facts here:

l The bi-directional hinge featured in earlier reports is for prototype model only. The screen hinge of the production model will only turn clock-wise direction.

l Vista Experience index is 2.7 (it is unclear whether the machine completed the full test or not)

l Official figure on battery life is 4 hours on a 4-cell battery.

l Alternative OS choice will be Ubuntu Linux.
