Intel Penryn Core 2 Quad 处理器将「如期推出」

在这个电子产品愈来愈复杂，上市日期经常被延后的世界里，Intel 算是比较能信守承诺，如期推出产品的一间公司了。所以当 Intel 说它们四核心、45nm 制程 Penryn 笔电芯片已经开始「第一批测试芯片的生产」，并且将在 2007 年第三季推出时，我们有理由相信它们说的是真的。

预计将命名为 Core 2 Quad，Penryn 可以说是个缩小版的 Merom。在改用 45nm 制程后，理当可以更进一步地增加运算速率、省电、以及最重要的，超越 AMD -- 在 AMD 才刚推出 65nm 制程的 Barcelona 没几个月就能以 45nm 的产品反制，对 AMD 应该是个不小的打击。Penryn 同时预计将是代号 Montevina 的下一代 Centrino 中的核心 CPU。
