DARPA 的生物手臂，预计在 2009 年研发完成

精密国防研究计划局（The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency），或叫做大家熟知的 DARPA（今天能在网络上遨游，他们可是功不可没）计划在 2009 年研发出感觉起来、用起来像是真的手臂一样的生物手臂（bionic arm）。

这项五千五百万美元的大计划，是由约翰霍普金斯大学在巴尔帝摩市的应用物理学实验室所主导，数队由政府、大学及私人企业的生物学家、物理学家，还有电机工程师所组成，每一队都会设计出一组生物手臂，最后再来选出一至数个较优秀的设计，于 2009 年开始安装于人体，进行实验。

目前的计划包括有内置控制芯片的、利用神经刺激的，甚至是直接由人脑控制的。如果成品最后能符合计划的每一项要求，那将可以进行像扣钮扣这样细微的活动，甚至能够传达感觉回馈给受试者。
