Apple 考虑过用小芯片厂的核心？

大约一年以前，乔布斯宣布要从 Power PC 转换到 Intel x86 系统的时候，不知道让多少人掉了裤子，扭了脖子。而另外有一则让人更讶异的内幕消息，最近才流传出来。

其实当年（一年前而已啦！）原本苹果方面是有考虑使用 PA Semi 的芯片组，而 PA Semi 也认为这项生意是该到手了，却一直到乔布斯在他的主题演讲中公布要采用 Intel 的核心时， PA Semi 公司才恍然大悟，原来...社会是黑暗的。

根据 The Register 报导指出，PA Semi 在公布消息的一个月前，其实和苹果一直有相当密切的合作关系，两家公司一同在为 PA Semi 的 2GHz 双核心整合于以 PowerPC 撰写的软件做努力，这组芯片其实在用电效率上，比起 Intel Core Duo 的好上了三倍（接近 7~8 瓦）。

在对 El Reg 的采访中，他也提到当时公司内上上下下都以为赢定了，想不到最后的结果，竟是如此，该公司总裁 Dan Dobberpuhl 更是忿忿不平。

不过这家公司还是具有相当的潜力，他们在内置储存装置芯片的发展上，是有一定的成果，不过想在未来成为像 Intel、AMD、IBM 一样的大咖，可能就有点困难了！
